Internships

At the Boulder Lake ELC, we work with students to give them real-world experience in practicing and applying their skills in professional settings. They work to help build our communities lifelong connections to nature through public outreach, development of programs, and teaching environmental education. Located 18 miles north of Duluth, we can work with you to develop an internship or practicum of your educational needs. (Must have own transportation)

Interested? Let us know and we can set up a time to talk.

Our four main focus tracks for internships are:

Stewardship: With 18,000 acres total, over twenty miles of trails, and 22 campsites, there is a lot to maintain at Boulder Lake! This is the perfect place for someone who has an interest in learning how to maintain campsites, trails and learn general stewardship practices.

Education: We work with K-12 school groups, families, adult learners, and anyone that visits the center! So, there are plenty of opportunities for teaching your interests at your own comfort. We will work with you to expand your knowledge and teaching experiences.

From our professional research partners to the student research going on, there are a lot of options for research at the center and we are flexible to work with you to find a research project that fits your needs.
